...not to Justice, which debt has been fully paid by my Lord in His death, nor to the Law, whose demand for righteousness was fulfilled by the Lord Jesus in His earthly life, nor to God as Judge of all the earth, for His own Son has fully discharged all that He required. But I am a debtor to Mercy, by which I am saved, to constantly seek it and rejoice in it; to the gospel, which brought mercy my way, to faithfully hear and meditate upon it believing it with all my heart; to God my Savior, who loved me a gave himself for me, to forever adore and worship Him, reserving to Him all the glory and honor for my salvation and all things good. As a preacher, I am a debtor to those who hear me to be a faithful steward of the grace of God, studying the word so as to deliver it to them pure and unadulterated, according to the grace given me. As a hearer, I am a debtor to those who preach to me to listen carefully, searching the scriptures to see if the things told me be so, to pray for the preacher, and according as God has prospered me, supply his earthly needs. As one who professes salvation in Christ, I am a debtor to my neighbor to show forth, as much as possible, the character and work of the Lord Jesus Christ in word and deed, and I am a debtor to all men to be all things to them that by all means I might save some. I am a debtor.
