A profession of faith that produces no works is a dead thing, an empty thing, a lie! That faith which produces nothing is just that-NOTHING! Even that faith which men have in false gods brings forth acts and performances. That faith which is of God, which the saints have in the true God, inevitably produces acts and performances (Ephesians 1 :8-10). However, there is a great difference between the two!
True faith has its origin in the grace and power of God and looks to Him alone. True faith looks to God for the ability, through grace, to act and perform, but never looks to nor rests in those acts and performances. True faith fears and flees from any form of self-confidence. True faith looks to God alone for justification, preservation, perseverance, and glorification. True faith is a believing trust in God, through the Lord Jesus Christ, for all that He has promised and made known to those who possess it.
